Battle Ground

Battle Ground is located about 11 miles Northeast of Vancouver, WA. The city's population is almost 22,000 people and is currently growing at a rate of 1.55% annually.

Battle Ground was first settled in 1886, by Augustus H. Richter, who platted the town in 1902.  Battle Ground was officially incorporated on June 18, 1951.  The city owes its name to an 1855 encounter between a company of Washington Volunteers from Fort Vancouver led by Captain William Strong and members of the Klickitat tribe that fled an internment near Fort Vancouver.  With a wide variety of shops, services, and dining opportunities in the City, Battle Ground serves as the commercial and social hub for the larger north Clark County area. Battle Ground benefits from serene surroundings while enjoying close proximity to the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area.
